Legit or Scam? This is always the first question asked whenever I tell someone about how I make money online. Despite knowing me and trusting me, they still question it because there are so many scams out there on the internet today. So I am writing this article to give you some tips on how to be certain whether the online money making site you are considering joining is a scam or a legit way to make some extra money.

1. The first thing you want to do is go to the site itself. Read their terms of service and guidelines and any other information they provide about how their website works. If the website doesn’t seem professional or legit, chances are it is not. If the site requires any sort of fee or credit card information up front, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is a scam. What it does mean is that you need to do a lot more research before joining.

2. If everything looks good with the site though, then you should do an internet search (preferably using one of the major 3, Google, Yahoo, or Bing) of the name of the website.
By doing this, you are looking to get the opinions of outside sources. Ideally, you would want to read at least 10-15 personal websites or blogs about the site you are considering joining. More if a fee is required. Read a few from page 1, and then go deeper and read some of the ones that are not as highly ranked. High ranking doesn’t always mean accurate or truthful. Don’t be alarmed if in that 10-15, 1-2 are negative. There are always people who will have a bad experience because they don’t understand the program and will then make negative remarks about the site or are simply talking negative about one site so they can promote another and convince you to join that one. If you do the search and cannot find many blogs or personal sites, that should be a huge red flag.

3. Something you should find on most of the personal sites or blogs you look at is proof of payment. This is one of the most important things to look for. If you cant find proof of people being paid, then you should avoid the site. If the site has a forum, then you should check there for proof of payment as well. Many sites will have a thread where members post either pictures of their checks or paypal transactions so they can build up their reputation. CashCrate.com is one of the sites that uses this tactic. They have the “Official I Got Paid Thread” where they have over 4 years of proof of payment from members. It is definitely a selling point for many people among the other characteristics of CashCrate.

4. If the site does have a forum, most allow you to join before joining the site. I would highly recommend doing this because it will allow you to post questions about anything you are still unsure of about the site, and get answers from people who have first hand experience with the site.

I hope these tips can help you make an informed decision about whether or not to join a certain online money making site. If you have anything to add to these tips or feel anything I have said is incorrect please feel free to add to it or change it.
